Key Responsibilities:
As a Production Assembler, your primary duties will include:
- Assembling components in accordance with blueprints, routers, work orders, checklists, and specifications to construct, assemble, and test parts and finished products that meet stringent quality standards.
- Completing assembly checklists with precision.
- Monitoring stock levels in your work area and communicating stock requirements to the Shop Floor Lead(s).
- Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to company standards and procedures.
- Upholding the Wabtec Code of Conduct.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- A foundational understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include:
- Regularly hearing, reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Standing and/or walking for extended periods, typically up to 6 hours at a time with minimal breaks.
- Lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds independently or up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Vision capabilities that include close and distance vision, color distinction, and the ability to observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
- Operating a forklift and overhead crane as necessary.
Work Environment:
The work environment is typically on the production shop floor, which is not climate-controlled and may vary with weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to fumes and moderate noise levels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strategic and creative thinking skills to analyze and resolve issues.
- A positive response to feedback and the capability to implement changes in processes and procedures as required.
- Basic math skills and the ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, and procedures.
