Bus Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled School Bus Mechanic to join our team at Parkway School District.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on school buses and other vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on school buses and other vehicles
• Perform repairs and troubleshooting on diesel and gasoline powered equipment
• Install special adaptive equipment in buses as needed
• Deliver spare buses to breakdown locations and attempt to bring disabled buses back to the shop

Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a vehicle mechanic. A thorough knowledge of diesel and gasoline powered equipment is essential, as is the ability to acquire and use own hand tools. A Commercial Driver's License without air brake restriction is also required.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a vehicle maintenance facility that is heated but not air-conditioned. Summer temperatures can be extremely high, and occasional work outside in hot or cold temperatures may be required.
