We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team at Desert Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our surgeons during complex cardiovascular procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment.
- Perform first assistant behaviors, including retracting, suctioning, and sponging, as per standardized hospital policies.
- Circulate and scrub as needed, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and patient safety.
- Participate in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients.
- Recognize and mitigate safety hazards, taking proactive measures to prevent complications.
- Collaborate with surgeons to handle and dissect tissues, clamp blood vessels, and perform other procedures as needed.
- Place drains as surgically indicated, ensuring accurate and timely placement.
- Graduate of an approved school of Nursing, with a current California RN license.
- Certified as a perioperative nurse (CNOR) required.
- Completion of an approved/accredited RNFA course, including the completion of the required internship hours.
- 2-3 years of extensive experience as CVOR Surgical Tech.
- Proficient in perioperative nursing practice as both scrub and circulating nurse with diversified operating room experience.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and co-workers inter- and intra-departmentally.
- Possess active listening skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing theory and practice.
- Compassionate, non-judgmental patient caregiver and advocate.
- Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work.
- Possesses audible, visual, and manual acuity necessary for maintaining patient safety.
- A competitive salary range of $83.35 per hour.
