Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of a production shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training sessions for employees on safety, process, quality, and company policies.
  • Pre-plan and manage daily shift operations, including work assignments, rotations, and supply chain management.
  • Ensure production meets specification requirements, customer expectations, and safety standards.
  • Identify and resolve production process issues, including troubleshooting and coordination with other departments.
  • Track employee work time, including timecards, attendance records, and paid/unpaid time off requests.
  • Review and report on production and operating data, including production results, downtime, scrap, and staffing.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate shift hand-off meetings and provide coverage for absences or vacations.

Technical Competencies:

  • Project Management: Assist in the execution, development, and maintenance of continuous improvement projects.
  • Interpersonal/Communication: Foster interdepartmental communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and build relationships with internal/external customers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory position.
  • Education or degree in a relevant field a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Plastics Industry processes and equipment, specifically extrusion and thermoforming.
  • Knowledge of raw materials and production supplies.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and database applications.
