Nurse Specialist in Acute Care

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Specialist in Acute Care to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality patient care and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
Job DescriptionThis position involves providing professional nursing care to patients/clients in various specialties within Acute Care, including Emergency Department (Adults), Emergency Department (Pediatrics), Inpatient (Adults), Critical Care/Telemetry (Adults), and Medical-Surgical (Adults). The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating responses to actual or potential health problems using nursing methods and techniques.
Duties & Responsibilities- Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms, selecting and performing therapeutic measures essential for effective execution of the nursing regimen.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients, ensuring continuity of care.
- Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients to ensure effective communication among healthcare team members.
- Interpret and report responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team, participating in interdisciplinary conferences as needed.
- Participate with healthcare teams to plan comprehensive patient care programs, determining components of the nursing regimen that may be carried out by allied nursing personnel.
- Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel in rendering patient care, contributing to a more highly-prepared nursing pool team.
- Participate in defining, implementing, maintaining, and interpreting standards of nursing practice, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- One (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the specialty area, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
