The Patient Liaison and Shuttle Driver plays a vital role in facilitating access to healthcare for underserved communities in Long Beach. This position requires a strong commitment to serving the community, effective communication, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized assistance to patients, including seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.
  • Safely transport patients to their healthcare destinations, adapting to changes in ride schedules and traffic conditions.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure when handling emergencies or unexpected changes during transport.
  • Maintain timely communication with the scheduling dispatcher and office as needed.
  • Accurately complete and submit required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Physically assist patients in and out of the vehicle, including handling wheelchairs on paved and unpaved surfaces.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and clean/sanitize the vehicle after each trip.
  • Monitor gas levels and fuel the vehicle when necessary.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between clinic staff, patients, and the community, promoting health access and linkages to services.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for community health.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
  • Physically capable of assisting patients with mobility needs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to maneuver up to 150 pounds safely.
