As an Occupational Therapist - Schools Specialist, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing school-based occupational therapy programs that promote cognitive integration, psychosocial skills, and active participation in educational environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Collaborate with educators and other professionals to design and implement occupational therapy programs that meet the unique needs of children with exceptional educational needs.
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of children referred to occupational therapy services, interpreting findings and preparing comprehensive reports to inform IEP development.
  • IEP Participation: Act as a collaborative member of the IEP team, contributing educationally appropriate occupational therapy goals and objectives to the IEP document.
  • Direct and Indirect Services: Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to children in educational environments, adapting to the needs of each child and collaborating with educators to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure that occupational therapy services are aligned with educational goals and objectives.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided, including daily documentation, Medicaid billing logs, IEPs, and progress reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy: A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is required.
  • State Licensure: Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in school-based occupational therapy is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
