Job Summary

The Chief Risk Officer is a critical leadership role responsible for the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program at Community Credit Union. This position requires a seasoned risk management professional with expertise in credit risk management, loan portfolio analysis, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive ERM framework that aligns with the Credit Union's strategic objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure effective risk management practices and policies are in place.
  • Monitor and analyze internal and external risk factors to predict and mitigate potential risks.
  • Develop and implement compliance activities across the Credit Union, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Oversee the collections activities for the Credit Union, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
  • Build and establish a cohesive risk data governance model that assesses risk across business, technology, and compliance landscape.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and Lending product leaders to establish financial metrics and effectively price the loan portfolio.
  • Partner with the Chief Information Officer regarding cybersecurity, data privacy, and third-party risks to identify and manage potential areas of vulnerability.
  • Work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver duties and ensure the Credit Union has a best-in-class Risk Management framework and operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, Master's degree preferred.
  • Prior Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) experience is required.
  • Prior experience as a senior Compliance/Risk Officer with a financial institution > $10B in assets, experience leading across the $10B threshold is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience and demonstrated success in credit risk management, loan portfolio analysis and forecasting.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union regulatory compliance and operational requirements.
  • Strong operations and management skills, ability to effectively select and manage vendor relationships.
  • Experience working with Board of Directors and Committees, presenting information and facilitating collaborative discussion around risk and compliance.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal communication skills, ability to make key contributions to strategy and support executive decision making with analytical abilities specifically around risk and reward.
  • Able to provide outstanding service to internal departments and stakeholders in a demanding environment and work collaboratively across all levels.
  • Must have ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and be able to work with operations to streamline processes to optimize efficiency, compliance, and the consumer experience.
  • Ability to effectively consult with internal business units and assist external examiners or regulatory agencies.
  • Must be bondable.
Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (A/RM), and internally to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the supervision of the SVP/Compliance and Risk, EVP/Credit Officer, Security and Safety Officer, SVP/Account Resolutions and other positions added as the Credit Union continues to buildout the Enterprise Risk Management program.
