Key Responsibilities
The Executive Director (ED) plays a crucial role in the operations of The Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church, Inc. The ED is responsible for ensuring that the Center functions in alignment with Christian values, adheres to the organization's mission, and complies with all relevant regulations. This role involves close collaboration with the Board of Directors and direct reporting to the Board President.
This significant position includes a variety of responsibilities, such as:
- Strategic Leadership: Shaping the Center's vision and strategic direction to effectively achieve its mission.
- Financial Oversight: Safeguarding the Center's financial stability through careful planning and management, including initiatives to secure necessary funding and resources.
- Community Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships within the community and with key stakeholders.
- Program Management: Overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of programs that meet community needs.
- Operational Management: Leading a team and managing daily operations to ensure organizational efficiency.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership (30%):
- Establish a compelling vision for the Center, inspiring staff, volunteers, and the community towards common objectives.
- Direct the formulation and execution of strategic plans that align with the organization's mission, utilizing data-driven insights to identify opportunities for growth.
- Foster an inclusive environment that values diversity, encourages teamwork, and promotes innovation.
Financial Management (20%):
- Work with the Treasurer to oversee the Center's financial health, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to secure diverse funding sources, including grants and donations, while maintaining strong relationships with donors and partners.
Community Relations (20%):
- Act as the primary representative and advocate for the Neighborhood Center.
- Build and sustain strong connections with community members, donors, and stakeholders.
- Maintain strong ties with the United Methodist Church and its conference, ensuring alignment with its mission.
Program and Operations Management (15%):
- Design and implement initiatives that respond to community needs.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure effective management of programs and services.
- Evaluate facilities and collaborate with the Board to implement maintenance strategies.
Human Resource Management (15%):
- Develop and execute a talent management plan to address ongoing organizational needs.
- Recruit, train, and cultivate a high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
- Ensure regular performance evaluations and adherence to personnel policies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, education, business, communications, theology, or humanities, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a diverse multicultural environment.
- Successful track record in fundraising and the ability to lead diverse fundraising initiatives.
- Experience in conducting community needs assessments and strategic planning.
- Expertise in designing and overseeing community-responsive programs.
- Strong operational management skills, including team building and financial oversight.
- A commitment to continuous learning and innovative problem-solving.
Additional Requirements:
- Health assessment as per regulatory standards.
- Valid driver's license.
- Clearances including FBI fingerprinting, criminal background checks, and child abuse clearances.
