Job Summary:The IDD Facility Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for delivering holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This includes providing health-related training to unlicensed personnel, administering medications and treatments, and assisting with preventative and routine medical appointments.
Responsibilities:- Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Assist the Registered Nurse in delivering quality nursing services to persons supported
- Provide health-related training to unlicensed personnel
- Administer medications and treatments or assist the person supported with medication administration
- Assist with ensuring preventative and routine medical appointments are scheduled
- Conduct medication closest assessments
- Collect health-related data
- Observe for and report any abnormal health-related findings to the physician
- Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team
- Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported
- Graduation from an accredited licensed nurse program
- Current nursing license with no restrictions to practice nursing
- Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification
- Ability to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families
- Ability to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks
- Physical requirements include: ability to regularly lift 20 pounds, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, pull a minimum of 25 pounds, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop, regularly stand and walk, and demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
