Job Summary

The Substation Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic equipment systems, adhering to the company's Safety First Culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in new/existing construction and various tasks such as demolition, site preparation, excavating, backfilling, landscaping, trenching, pole setting, and cable labeling.
  • Read and understand system maps to become knowledgeable in general electric distribution system layout, system substation capacities and load areas, substation circuit feeds, and general system sectionalizing.
  • Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings, and other related substation material tasks.
  • Operate forklifts and maintain a valid forklift certification.
  • Work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, back hoes, and other industry equipment.
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care.
Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain a valid State Class C driver's license.
  • Must have previous substation experience.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Preferred qualifications include OSHA 10 and 4+ years of substation experience.
