Join the Nemours Children's Health team as a Senior Pediatric Physical Therapist (CASUAL/PRN).

This position is designed for a PRN Senior Physical Therapist in our acute and inpatient rehabilitation environments. The role involves providing coverage as necessary when full-time staff are unavailable or during periods of increased patient volume. The schedule will be flexible, requiring at least one shift every three months and one holiday or holiday weekend day annually.

Located in Orlando, Florida, Nemours Children's Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that is part of the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 130-bed pediatric hospital includes the only 24-hour Emergency Department specifically designed for children in the area, along with outpatient pediatric clinics that offer various specialties previously lacking in the region. The hospital is thoughtfully designed by families for families, merging the healing power of nature with cutting-edge healthcare innovations to provide exceptional care to children in Central Florida and beyond. To further our mission of extending Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also offer specialty outpatient services at several clinics throughout the region.

As a Senior Physical Therapist, you will conduct evaluations, treatments, and consultations for patients referred to the Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Services Department. Services are delivered under physician prescription and adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The role requires demonstrated expertise in pediatric care for patients ranging from birth to 21 years, with additional proficiency in neonatal care as necessary.
  • Exhibit competency in pediatric physical therapy according to departmental clinical standards.
  • Engage in staff development by assessing and creating activities that enhance knowledge and professionalism within the department; participate in peer review processes.
  • Contribute to clinical education by mentoring physical therapy students, new staff, support personnel, and volunteers.
  • Stay informed about current trends and research in the field of Physical Therapy.
  • Participate in professional development through in-services and continuing education, providing updates to colleagues. Engage in professional learning opportunities as mandated by state regulations and Nemours. Foster connections with professional organizations and provide educational experiences to the discipline/program and the broader community.
  • Involve in program development initiatives to enhance program utilization, awareness, and marketing. Attend program meetings and contribute to departmental goals. Collaborate with community partners and participate in physical therapy-related community events, offering outreach assistance to external professionals regarding children with physical therapy needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and specialties.
  • Ensure timely documentation as per departmental policy and standards set by The Joint Commission and CARF.
  • Participate in meetings related to patient treatment and contribute as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Maintain knowledge of the insurance referral and authorization processes, along with documentation requirements related to therapy services.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience is required.
  • Experience in pediatrics is essential.
  • A valid Florida State License to practice Physical Therapy is required.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification is mandatory upon hire.
  • Membership in professional specialty organizations (APTA, FPTA) is preferred.
