About the Role

The Site EHS Manager is a critical member of our team at Johnson Controls International, responsible for developing and implementing safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees at our electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies and procedures tailored to our plant's operations, creating programs to promote safety awareness and compliance among employees.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees at all levels, covering topics such as hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency response, providing ongoing education and resources to ensure staff stays informed about safety protocols.
  • Compliance and Audits: Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards and legislation, performing regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Incident Management: Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective measures, maintaining accurate records of incidents and safety-related data, preparing reports as required.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with management, supervisors, and employees to foster a safety-first culture, serving as a key liaison with regulatory agencies and external safety organizations.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks, reviewing and assessing safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure adequacy and compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for emergencies, coordinating with local emergency services and government agencies as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in safety management, preferably in a HVAC, manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
