Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of professional engineering tasks related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and evaluation of our water and wastewater facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct engineering studies and prepare technical reports, correspondence, and records related to water and wastewater collection and treatment.
  • Provide technical operations assistance to plant personnel and identify operational problems and recommend process changes.
  • Conduct pilot studies to optimize plant operations and make recommendations regarding equipment operation/purchase and maintenance of District structures.
  • Identify long-term projects to improve plant operations and assure regulatory compliance and provide information and training to operating personnel on various technical topics.
  • Prepare CIP budgets for capital improvement projects and coordinate the work among contractors, consultants, utility providers, municipal agencies, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology or an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate.
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of engineering, water science, construction management, or project management related to water, wastewater treatment, and/or sewage collection systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, other managers, the public, developers, other government agencies, consultants, and contractors.
  • Ability to interpret, implement, and enforce District water, REW, sewer, and administrative ordinances and other state and local regulations.
