Nursery Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nursery Specialist to join our team at PRT Atmore Nursery in Atmore, AL. As a key member of our nursery team, you will be responsible for the management and production of high-quality container forest seedlings for reforestation efforts across the Southeast United States.

• Fertilize, prune, irrigate, and inventory containerized seedlings
• Operate, maintain, and repair nursery equipment, including conveyors, forklifts, farm tractors, and seedling lifters
• Assess seed germination and ensure optimal growing conditions
• Operate spray-rigs and fertilizer injection equipment to promote healthy seedling growth
• Assist in winterizing the irrigation system to ensure efficient water use
• Support innovation and continuous improvement in nursery operations
• Promote collaboration and teamwork among team members
• Set targets and evaluate achievement of production and timelines

You will be part of a dynamic team of three Nursery Specialists, a Nursery Supervisor, and a Nursery Manager. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality seedlings and promoting sustainable forestry practices.

• High school degree or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Strong familiarity and mechanical skills with farm equipment and tractors
• Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Great organizational and record-keeping skills
• Customer-driven and oriented
• Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team
