Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Court Interpreter for the Clerk of Courts, making a significant contribution to the community.
This role is situated in a dynamic environment, where the successful candidate will be passionate about supporting local communities and becoming an integral part of the Clerk of Courts team.
The primary responsibilities include providing Spanish-English interpretation services during court sessions and preparing translations of pertinent documents. Additionally, the interpreter will assist in the coordination and scheduling of contracted interpreters for court hearings as necessary.
**Candidates must possess certification as a Wisconsin Court Interpreter. Further details regarding this certification can be found through the appropriate channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver verbal and written interpretation during court proceedings, hearings, interviews, and other legal events.
- Translate various office forms, documents, and legal materials as required.
- Review case files to adequately prepare for upcoming assignments.
- Assist in scheduling on-call interpreters and managing requests within the Court Interpreter's office.
- Maintain comprehensive records of interpretation and translation activities.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data for reporting and documentation purposes.
- Provide interpretation services for other county departments with prior notice.
- Serve as the Interpretation Services Coordinator.
- Utilize standard office equipment, including computers and relevant software.
- Perform additional assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Required:
High School diploma
Certification from the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office
Maintain interpreter certification with the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Wisconsin State Motor Vehicle Operator's License
Preferred:
Graduation from an accredited college or university
One year of experience in a court/legal setting or a combination of education and experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
