Job Summary

The EMT will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care, utilizing critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in emergency medical procedures, including medication administration, vital sign collection, and basic life support.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room, providing gowns, drapes, and preparing instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies.
  • Complete medical services, including verifying patient information, reviewing and updating medical records, and documenting interventions.
  • Perform medical procedures as delegated, including medication administration, vital sign collection, and basic life support.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic testing, dispose of contaminated supplies, and clean or prepare for sterilization of medical instruments.
  • Assist in balancing workloads, coordinate, and maintain clinical flow by coordinating with care providers.
  • Provide standardized education for patients and families through written and verbal instructions and answering questions as directed by the provider.
  • Provide basic airway and respiratory management.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor to other team members.
  • Adhere to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and standards of regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and graduation from an accredited/certified Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
  • State of Colorado Emergency Medical Technician certification required.
