Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physical Medicine Supervisor to join our team at Advocate Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Physical Medicine Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of patient caseloads and staff schedules to meet volume and productivity standards.
  • Conduct studies and provide input related to department performance improvement and productivity standards.
  • Develop and maintain site-based department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff are oriented, trained, and current with clinical and other competencies.
  • Collaborate with system leadership, physicians, and committees to develop and enhance new programs and services.
  • Manage building equipment and issues as required.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including coaching, performance reviews, and staff morale.
Requirements
  • Physical Therapist license issued by the state in which you work, or Occupational Therapist license issued by the state in which you work, or Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the state in which you work, or Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which you work.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in rehabilitation, with experience as a lead or senior level staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent diplomacy, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist with patient mobility (including transfers, standing, walking) if indicated via discipline.

Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids through patient contact and therefore must have ability to wear protective clothing as needed.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday.
