Role Summary:
The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers dedicated to delivering personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care. This position operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model.
Practice Framework:

Professional Expectations:
All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed, well-informed, and adhere to the nursing practice standards as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They must implement the Scope of Practice and uphold the Code of Ethics as established by the American Nurses Association.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices.
- Utilize analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure individualized care, fostering effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Deliver relationship-centered care that respects diverse population characteristics (age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to cultural contexts.
- Engage with patients and their significant others through appropriate communication methods, ensuring they are informed and involved in their care plans.
- Provide timely patient education and updates, prioritizing the patient's goals in the care plan.
- Adhere to current clinical practice standards in all nursing activities.
- Oversee the safe delivery and documentation of quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, ensuring timely documentation and fostering a respectful clinical environment.
- Exhibit teamwork and collaboration, practicing fiscal responsibility and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives, collaborating with all stakeholders to enhance patient care quality.
- Complete all required competency assessments and ongoing education related to nursing practice.
- Act as a mentor and preceptor for nursing staff and students, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
- Promote evidence-based practices and nursing research to improve care quality.
- Participate in product evaluations and decision-making processes regarding patient care products.
- Comply with all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal and accreditation standards.
- Contribute to data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practices.
- Consult with experts and utilize appropriate resources to address clinical practice questions.
- Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient services.

Education Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure and Certification:
- Registered Nurse (Single State)
- RN - Multi-state Compact
- Basic Life Support Certification
- BLS Instructor Certification
- BLS Provisional Certification
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience post-graduation from an accredited nursing program with requisite clinical hours.
- Direct patient care experience is preferred.
