Job Summary
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly skilled Crime Analyst to join their team. As a Crime Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting law enforcement efforts by providing analytical support for investigations of criminal activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide analytical support for investigations of criminal activity, including link charting, phone toll analysis, and other forms of investigative analysis.
- Utilize databases and open source information to compile historical data related to investigative targets.
- Audit and maintain quality control of crime analysis data through accurate data documentation using various databases.
- Evaluate, organize, and analyze data and information in ongoing criminal investigations to aid investigators by utilizing specialized computer hardware and software.
- Consult a variety of resources, including crime mapping technology, computer-aided dispatch, police reports, and contacts with other professionals in their area and around the country.
- Prepare analytical reports and present results and recommendations to investigators, command staff, partner agencies, trial, and/or community groups.
- Assist in the identification of suspects and case clearance by identifying, studying, and analyzing various patterns of criminal activity.
- Provide support to investigators during operations, including maintaining logs, deconfliction, and entering targets through appropriate databases, monitoring radio traffic, and conducting records requests.
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position.
- Experience working with data management processes and procedures.
- Experience organizing and analyzing data.
- Intermediate level proficiency in database management.
- Ability and experience in turning raw data into usable information.
- Experience preparing written and oral presentations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Personal and professional integrity.
- Motivation, perseverance, tenacity, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
- Must pass an extensive background investigation, including national fingerprint records check.
- Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a law enforcement environment.
- Experience as a crime analyst.
- Experience preparing case files for prosecution.
- Experience working on a narcotics task force.
- Operational knowledge of law enforcement software applications such as CLASSWEB, CCOM, LEDS, and others.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Work Schedule
This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.
This position is subject to callout after normal working hours and must be available to work outside of normal working hours on occasion.
This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
