Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate the accounting and control processes at hotels upon entry and throughout your assignment. Implement necessary changes and provide training to staff to establish more effective procedures.

- Conduct a thorough review of the daily Income Journal process, ensuring that interfaces with other systems function correctly, all transactions are accurately recorded, taxes are collected, and manual adjustments are infrequent and justified. Ensure proper routing and filing of all supporting documents.

- Confirm that Accounts Payable transactions are appropriately approved, recorded, and paid promptly.

- Ensure timely conversion of Accounts Receivable from Guest to City Ledger, timely billing, and the establishment of effective collection processes.

- Review essential payments (e.g., state and local taxes, insurance, regulatory-related items, affiliates, key service providers) to ensure timely execution.

- Complete the month-end closing cycle accurately and promptly, producing the draft Profit & Loss statement along with necessary analyses, and finalize after approval from the Regional Vice President of Hotel Finance.

- Conduct all Balance Sheet Reconciliations in the online system promptly, ensuring they are fully supported according to guidelines.

- While acting as the Director of Finance, provide guidance, oversight, and training to all accounting team members.

- Assist the General Manager and hotel Steering Committee in completing forecasts and budgets as required.

- Gather any necessary audit documentation and provide it to auditors as directed.

- Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- A degree from a four-year institution is preferred, ideally with a focus on accounting.

- A minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.

- Comprehensive knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, income auditing, payroll, double-entry accounting, accruals, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, ownership reporting, and budgeting processes.

- Experience in training entry-level team members with varying skill sets and onboarding new hires.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Universal System of Accountings for the Lodging Industry (USALI).

- This role requires significant travel. The candidate must be prepared for frequent travel, typically on a weekly basis, with arrangements made to allow sufficient time for assignments.
