Position Summary

The Electronics Integration Engineer will be instrumental in the design and integration of electrical and electronic component subsystems for heavy and medium-duty vehicles. This role encompasses the full lifecycle of electrical systems, ensuring their seamless integration into vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate electrical and electronic systems for commercial truck applications.
  • Oversee the release of embedded electronics hardware for vehicle and driveline controls.
  • Manage engineering change documentation to facilitate the transition between legacy and new components.
  • Lead the specification of electronics engineering requirements and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with tier 1 and 2 suppliers to enhance supplier relationships and project outcomes.
  • Plan and monitor the validation processes for components.
  • Support product launches and address field issues as they arise.
  • Ensure that all components meet or exceed industry standards for quality and reliability.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure optimal electrical designs.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Foster teamwork and effective communication across cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate and resolve warranty claims related to electrical components.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    • A minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle electrical component design and release.
    • Experience managing tier 1 suppliers and overseeing hardware development processes.
    • Proficient in developing technical specifications for embedded electronics components.
    • Adept at working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Competent in standard business software applications.
    • Ability to learn new processes and solve complex technical challenges.
    • Commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality work.
    • Desire for continuous personal and professional growth.
  • Desired:
    • Hands-on experience with system schematics and wiring diagrams.
    • Familiarity with engineering tools such as Pro-Engineer, Mentor Graphics, and Matlab/Simulink.
    • Knowledge of SAE J1939 CAN and ISO 17987 LIN protocols.
    • Understanding of regulations impacting medium and heavy-duty commercial trucks.
    • Experience with V-model design and validation processes.
    • Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
    • Experience in conducting failure modes and effects analysis.
    • Expertise in automotive technical requirements and design specifications.
    • Familiarity with safety and diagnostics in electrical/electronic design.
    • Master's degree in a relevant technical field is a plus.
