We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team at Brookings County. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the law.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol designated areas to prevent crime, enforce laws, and maintain public safety.
- Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses to solve cases.
- Respond to emergency calls, provide assistance, and render first aid when necessary.
- Enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and conduct traffic stops.
- Transport prisoners, serve court documents, and maintain courtroom security.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest laws, procedures, and technologies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; law enforcement experience preferred.
- South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
