Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct customer service to library patrons, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Plan and conduct library programs and tours for adults, promoting literacy and lifelong learning.
  • Assist patrons in using library services and technology, including databases, electronic resources, and other software.
  • Conduct reference interviews to determine patron needs and provide reader's advisory recommendations.
  • Use electronic and print resources to find information and assist patrons in using these resources.
  • Develop displays and assist in collection maintenance, ensuring that materials are organized and easily accessible.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of classic and popular authors for all ages, as well as a broad knowledge of various topics and interests.
  • Strong public speaking and verbal communication skills, as well as strong computer skills, including the use of Google Workspace and other software.
  • Valid GA driver license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Library Science (MLIS) or Georgia Certificate of Librarianship.
  • Public Library experience in reference, information, and readers advisory services.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Hindi/Tamil/Telugu) are helpful.

Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and sitting, frequent but intermittent periods of stooping, bending, walking, and moving throughout the library. Frequent lifting of light objects, occasional lifting of heavy items, and occasional use of pushing and pulling motions to move chairs, tables, or meeting room wall partitions.
