Direct Support Professional

Catholic Charities is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Worker to join our team. As a Direct Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their maximum independence and safe community integration.
Responsibilities:- Act as a positive role model and encourage individuals to interact with others in a respectful and considerate manner.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of each individual's medical condition and history.
- Collaborate with the program team to create and implement personalized plans for each individual.
- Assist individuals with job duties, vocational training, and socialization, promoting their independence and self-advocacy.
- Establish and maintain open communication with individuals, staff members, and administrators to ensure seamless support and coordination.
- Provide training and instruction to individuals in skills agreed upon in their individual plan.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual progress and data.
- Ensure all client data is recorded accurately in client records and all program documentation is completed on time.
- Participate in recreational activities and outings to promote socialization and community integration.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or High school Diploma with 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Must have Medication Administration Certification or be able to obtain it upon the next available Med Cert Course following hire.
- Demonstrates organizational ability, effective communication, and a commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Applicants will be subject to criminal and driving history background checks. Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license with no more than 2 violations in a three-year period, subject to review.
