The National Security Agency's (NSA) High School Work Study (HSWS) Program is a highly competitive internship opportunity designed for high school students who plan to participate in a paid part-time internship during their senior year.
Students have the opportunity to gain work experience in various fields, including business, computer science, engineering, manufacturing, graphic arts, construction, and Chinese language.
The program provides hands-on work experience from September to August, with a security clearance, part-time salary, paid leave, and the opportunity for permanent employment upon successful completion of the program.
Eligibility Requirements- Must be 16 years of age by December 31st
- Must be eligible to be granted a Security Clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher is preferred
- Must be a High School Junior
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must complete at least two courses in the desired field of study prior to the completion of the junior year
- Students interested in the HSWS Program at Fort Meade, Maryland must reside within commuting distance of this location
The following positions are available within the HSWS Program:
Office AssistantAssist with administrative tasks, including typing, filing, and maintaining records. Must complete a minimum of one business or non-technical computer course prior to the completion of the junior year.
Computer AideOperate data processing equipment and assist with technical tasks. Must complete a minimum of two technical computer courses prior to the completion of the junior year.
Vo-TechAssist with technical tasks, including printing, graphic arts, and manufacturing. Designed for high school students who are enrolled in technical high school courses.
Facilities and LogisticsAssist with maintenance and repair tasks, including building architectural systems and sanitization. Designed for high school students who are enrolled in construction, engineering, or manufacturing courses.
Model ShopAssist with technical tasks, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Designed for high school students who are enrolled in technical high school courses.
ChineseAssist with tasks that require Chinese language skills, including reading, writing, and listening. Must be enrolled in advanced Chinese courses and recommended by the school's lead Chinese language instructors.Intelligence Analysis Aide
Assist with tasks that require writing and critical thinking skills, including transforming foreign intelligence and cybersecurity information into critical reports. Must be enrolled in advanced English and humanities courses, and completed at least two business or technical computer courses.
