Field Service Technician

Ziegler CAT is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex construction and agricultural equipment, including Caterpillar machinery.

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment, including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment, as well as agricultural equipment, such as tractors, combines, balers, sprayers, tillage equipment, and planters.
• Respond to customer needs in a timely and professional manner, ensuring maximum value for work performed.
• Assume responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair of complex equipment and tools, involving mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety procedures, and ensure the service vehicle is properly maintained.
• Interact positively with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs.
• Provide assistance to other technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs.
• Communicate job status with supervisor and communicate job completion to receive subsequent assignments.
• Maintain paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner.
• Document labor, addition of segments, ensuring work orders can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer.
• Respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
• Identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable mechanic experience.
• 5+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably some field experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Previous experience with CAT equipment, Challenger tractors, combines, or hay equipment; LEXION combines; AGCO RoGators, TerraGators, and SpraCoupes; Sunflower tillage equipment; or White Planters is a plus but not required.
• Possess the ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision and read, follow, understand, and communicate schematics.
• Personal characteristics: desire to provide outstanding, professional customer service, strong attention to detail, excellent problem solver, committed, and possesses written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
• Basic computer skills.
• Own mechanic tool set.
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
• Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period of time.
• Obtain a DOT medical certification card.
• Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Able to operate equipment safely.
• This role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement.

• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
• Lift bulky objects.
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping - able to use bolt box.
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
