Job Summary

The Benefits Financial Analyst in our Kansas City, MO office assists the team leader in servicing the financial consulting needs of employee benefit clients. This role requires utilizing technical expertise to retain clients by providing financial expertise. Key responsibilities include evaluating financial and utilization metrics for clients, preparing and sending monthly financial reports, and identifying methods to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness of benefit programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor monthly financials for clients, including entry of data into client exhibits
  • Prepare and send monthly financial reports to clients with analysis of activity and large claim detail
  • Identify, plan, and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness of benefit programs
  • Prepare basic financial/underwriting exhibits as requested, including financial projections, large claim analysis, and demographics analysis
  • Work with the Team Lead to develop reporting requirements and any deviations or customizations in those reports
  • Coordinate and execute the implementation of new client custom reporting packages
  • Assist Account Executives/Benefits Consultants in preparing requests for proposals and renewals of benefit coverages
  • Request and manage benefit renewal delivery and confirmation process
  • Draft benefit marketing materials and manage the process to deliver results to Benefit Consultants
  • Create, review, and edit employee benefit guides, presentations, and other client communications as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business/Economics or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years' experience with a thorough understanding and knowledge of employee benefits
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and a proactive approach to meeting client financial requirements
  • Must obtain and maintain active Life/Accident and Health Insurance Agent License within one year
