Position Title: Special Education Instructor for Middle and High School
Reports To: Site Director
Department: Educational Staff
Compensation: Based on Teacher Salary Schedule
Employment Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: School Hours - 183 days annually
Objective: To deliver tailored educational experiences that promote the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development of students.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in education or a related discipline is mandatory.
- Must meet the "highly qualified" criteria.
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education or Alternative Teaching Certification as sanctioned by the Oklahoma State Department of Education is required.
- For Autism: Certification in any area along with completion of 32 clock hours of approved autism training.
- For Deaf-Blindness: Certification in relevant areas including Hearing Impaired and Visually Handicapped.
- For Intellectual Disabilities: Certification in Mild-Moderate Disabilities and Severe/Profound/Multiple Disabilities.
- Instruct students in a variety of subjects including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to the individual needs of students.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage students and facilitate learning.
- Maintain a respectful and dignified classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assess and document students' academic and social progress, preparing reports as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school programs.
- Collaborate with other educational professionals to address student needs.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Supervise students during various school activities outside the classroom.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the administration.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within the school community.
- Proficient in using educational technology and software.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability to perform classroom duties, including lifting and supervising students.
