Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Center Deputy to join our team at Kenton County Fiscal Court. As a Detention Center Deputy, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our detention facility, ensuring the well-being of inmates, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the activities of inmates, ensuring their safety and security while in custody.
  • Enforce detention rules and regulations, as well as applicable laws and policies.
  • Conduct thorough searches and inspections of inmates, cells, and facilities to prevent contraband and maintain order.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, using sound judgment and effective communication skills to resolve situations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, as required.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, courts, and community organizations to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 21 years of age; must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, as well as background checks and polygraph examinations.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to stand, lift, carry, walk, and bend for extended periods, with occasional heavy lifting and physical activity.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
