Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at Ameri-Force. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality repairs on equipment, diagnosing and troubleshooting engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions to identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
  2. Remove and install parts, disassemble, and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
  3. Analyze all product equipment systems and components for proper operation based on theory of design.
  4. Effectively communicate with peers, leads, and other staff members to ensure seamless collaboration and project execution.
  5. Organize a job in a logical and economical sequence to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize downtime.
  6. Utilize computer programs and other online tools as required to streamline tasks and improve productivity.
  7. Perform assigned work within the communicated time quoted/flat rated to meet client expectations.
  8. Conduct customer training in proper use of equipment as needed to ensure safe and effective operation.
  9. Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate times with minimal to no rework to maintain high-quality standards.
  10. Write service reports that accurately document diagnosis and repairs performed on a daily basis to ensure transparency and accountability.
  11. Follow contamination control and OSHA/MSHA rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  12. Guide/mentor/train technicians with less expertise in the repairs of machines and systems to develop their skills and knowledge.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and achieve business objectives.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Five to eight (5-8) years of experience in the repair of Caterpillar or other heavy equipment products.
  3. General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes/rigging equipment.
  4. Ability to provide accurate information to lead/supervisor for quoting.
  5. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  6. Must be able to obtain a passing score for the crane qualification test performed by a qualified trainer for this position.
  7. Ability to work unsupervised efficiently and be part of a team environment.
  8. Must be able to pass the Lock Out / Tag Out & Forklift certification class provided by a qualified trainer for this position.
  9. Perform the position with pride in professionalism while following company code of conduct.
  10. Possess basic computer knowledge and ability to use service software required in position.
  11. Must have valid California Driver's License with a clean record.
  12. Shop Requirements: Valid California Class "C" driver's license.
  13. Field Requirements: Valid California Class "B" driver's license, if assigned vehicle is required.
  14. Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test, and diagnose hydraulic, air, power train, electrical, and electronic systems on equipment.

  • Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.
