The Clinical Nurse is a key member of our interdisciplinary team, responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
- Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the delivery of clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking.
- Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
- Partner with patients and significant others (as appropriate) to set and achieve patient goals, using effective communication methods such as bedside shift report and interdisciplinary rounds.
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care, including initiating and/or leading such activities and promoting an inter/intra-disciplinary process.
- Professional Development and Initiative
- Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, required mandatory education, and population-specific education.
- Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students for all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce, modeling the professional practice of nursing and creating a healthy work environment.
- Evidence-Based Practice and Research
- Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing, participating in activities such as value analysis as part of the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products.
- Uphold all healthcare system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies put forth by this job description and professional associations, ensuring goals such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes.
- Resources and Support
- Proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum in the course of giving direct patient care.
- Participate in the development of protocols and procedures when called upon or through self-initiation in collaboration with care managers and other members of the healthcare team to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Minimum 5 years patient care experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
- Optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and hold basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
- Possess excellent time management skills and practice nursing using evidence and analytical skills along with strong critical thinking skills
