Job Summary:

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies. Your expertise will be essential in accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Communicate findings to physicians and serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff.

Requirements:

  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) is required.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) is required.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 6 months.

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography is required.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
