Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nursing Instructor Oncology Clinical Research to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for the orientation, continuing education, staff development, and continuous process improvement of clinical research nursing staff, team members, patients, and the network research community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs based on ongoing needs assessment and analysis.
  • Design and deliver educational offerings that meet the needs of clinical research nursing staff, team members, and patients.
  • Promote and facilitate performance improvement initiatives that align with the goals and missions of Hackensack Meridian Health.
  • Integrate educational opportunities and develop ongoing education relevant to the coordination of research-related regulations and guidelines.
  • Support staff and provide education specific to the development, maintenance, and reporting of findings for clinical trials.
  • Train research staff in developing, applying, and maintaining research computerized provider order entry sets.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational offerings and ensure that knowledge and/or skills learned are being applied on the job.
  • Participate in annual review and revision of staff orientation.
  • Coordinate comprehensive, unit-specific programs for research team members.
  • Monitor completion of educational requirements and validation of skills.
  • Communicate progress and performance to manager.
  • Assist in an annual review of mandatory education and core competencies.
  • Document all educational events and develop metrics to track them.
  • Assist staff in planning and developing grand rounds and professional journal clubs.
  • Participate in the coordination of education programs generated by the HMH Research Institute.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance educational support in assigned areas.
  • Act as a mentor for students, interns, or other individuals.
  • Evaluate the performance of new staff with input from preceptors.
  • Train and/or coordinate research team members on various clinical skills.
  • Assist in drafting and disseminating research-related announcements, memos, and website content.
  • Assist in identifying and applying for educational grants.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a NLN/AACN accredited program.
  • At least 3 years of clinical research experience.
  • Adherence to the American Nurses Association standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service focus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team and handle multiple deadline-driven tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Review and compliance with all relevant HMH and Business Unit policies and procedures, and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education on human subject research and GCP (CITI Training and Certification).
  • Knowledge of clinical trials and the regulation (local, state, and federal) of such.
  • Familiarity with basic scientific and healthcare principles and terminology.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks and demands.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
