Role SummaryThe Climate Smart Commodity Market Development Specialist at Piikani Lodge Health Institute will play a pivotal role in discovering and securing lucrative retail and food service avenues for products crafted within the Blackfeet Nation, leveraging commodities cultivated under the USDA Climate Smart Commodity Grant. This specialist will pinpoint potential markets, establish connections with buyers, and finalize marketing agreements for these offerings. Additionally, the role involves linking producers with educational opportunities in regenerative agriculture, business growth, and other pertinent subjects for emerging businesses and producers.
Key Responsibilities:- Create a comprehensive catalog of climate-smart commodities and finished goods in line with grant stipulations.
- Analyze and track market trends that favor the use of these commodities and products.
- Formulate a marketing strategy that encompasses essential brand elements such as product positioning, pricing, and promotional tactics.
- Supervise the creation of graphics, packaging, and messaging.
- Identify target markets and initiate outreach to key buyers.
- Focus on expanding existing accounts while acquiring new clientele.
- Conduct meetings and deliver sales presentations.
- Coordinate advertising and promotional efforts, including traditional media, social media, trade exhibitions, and product showcases.
- Generate innovative, results-driven marketing concepts tailored to diverse clients.
- Assess client promotional needs and evaluate demographics, pricing, distribution channels, and marketing platforms.
- Develop effective sales strategies.
- Engage with clients to understand their marketing objectives.
- Produce reports analyzing competition and customer insights.
- Provide valuable insights regarding product potential.
- Manage and oversee marketing and sales budgets.
- Regularly meet with team members involved in the production and processing of climate-smart commodities to gain a comprehensive understanding of these products for effective client communication.
- Analyze production data of climate-smart commodities to inform marketing strategies and sales materials.
- Deliver regular updates to Piikani Lodge Health Institute regarding marketing and sales performance of commodities and finished products.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food and/or commodity marketing and managing marketing initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of the food industry.
- Understanding of climate change factors and the positive impact of commodity production.
- Ability to empathize with consumer psychology.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
