Job Title: Head of Paper Production Operations

The Head of Paper Production Operations is a pivotal role that oversees the comprehensive management of the paper manufacturing division. This position is responsible for ensuring that production processes are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with key performance metrics, including operational efficiency and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all facets of paper production, ensuring adherence to safety standards, regulatory compliance, quality control, productivity, and cost management.
  • Control chemical costs and implement rigorous cost management practices.
  • Lead and develop teams, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting professional growth.
  • Formulate and manage the annual budget for paper production, monitor expenditures, and address budget variances.
  • Create and implement strategies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.
  • Ensure customer service and sales commitments are met with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage production operations to meet financial performance objectives.
  • Promote environmental stewardship and maintain in-depth machinery knowledge.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs and create training materials to support team development and succession planning.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven ability to manage capital projects effectively, meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Strong understanding of internal customer requirements and KPIs, with experience collaborating on supply chain and logistics.
  • Inspirational leadership with the ability to guide and motivate teams.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • A strong sense of urgency and ownership over operational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in operating process data systems and a willingness to adopt new technologies to improve efficiency.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a fiber production environment, with 5 years specifically focused on fiber processing and de-inking.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience, with a track record of developing teams and individuals.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and other departments.
  • Ability to understand and integrate the broader business strategy and how paper production fits within it.
