Orthopedic Triage Specialist

The Triage Specialist is a vital role within our healthcare team, responsible for ensuring seamless communication between departments to secure timely appointments for high-priority patients. This position requires close attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strong customer service skills.
Responsibilities:- Utilize and maintain worklists, task lists, and necessary platforms to house documentation and communication.
- Communicate directly with providers, office managers, directors, billing staff, and leadership to resolve issues with availability, proper documentation, and patient needs.
- Support the Triage queue and Patient Care Coordination Team on high-priority items.
- Manage incoming Triage department faxes, including homecare referrals, medication verification, and dental referrals.
- Review lab reports and follow protocol for abnormal results.
- Schedule specialty in-office/semi-surgical appointments, such as Xiaflex.
- Oversee daily STAT messages received on Teams, reviewing follow-up instructions, contacting patients, and communicating with hospital PA's/MD's regarding issues or concerns.
- Submit and complete medication authorizations, WC portal/cover my meds.
- Manage the Appointment Needed worklist in EEHR, ensuring patients are scheduled within 72 hours and maintaining up-to-date documentation of efforts to reach the patient.
- Monitor MD Task Team task lists in EEHR to alert necessary staff if messages are waiting past an acceptable turnaround time.
- Assist in special projects as needed.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with patients, clients, co-workers, and management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in reception and/or billing, as it relates to scheduling, insurance verification policies, and procedures, is desired.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, and strong customer service skills are required.
