Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Housing Navigator to assist individuals and families in finding permanent housing opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Housing Choice Voucher Program and be able to develop and implement effective outreach plans to promote stabilized housing for applicants and participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of family plans with objectives, services to be provided, milestones for completion of key elements, and timetables.
  • Provide motivational counseling to participants regarding housing search methods and utilizing community resources.
  • Assist participants with housing applications and subsidized housing paperwork.
  • Make appropriate referrals for needed services to help remove barriers to a successful mobility move.
  • Identify social service agencies to provide necessary workshops for program participants.
  • Serve as the liaison between HACM, the HUD-VASH Clinical Care Coordination Team, community partners, and landlords.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations as applicable to the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse clientele.
  • Excellent client service, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
