Labor Delivery Surgical Tech

About the Role:
Nuvance Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Labor and Delivery department at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the surgical suite for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Utilize the Operating Room schedule, M.D.'s preference cards, and basic knowledge of procedures to prepare surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding dress code, infection control, and universal precautions.
- Perform proper sponge, sharps, and instrument counts, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Verify exposure to sterilization processes and integrity of sterile packaging.
- Assist with preparation of instruments and equipment for decontamination or terminal sterilization.
- Adhere to Infection Control and Quality Assurance Policy and Procedures at all times.
- Identify and report any issues or concerns related to patient care or safety.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program and certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- 15 hours of continuing education (CE) each year.
