Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in New York. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing and constructing mechanical systems for new and existing facilities, and will be responsible for leading our mechanical design team and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and construction documentation for building mechanical systems in new and existing facilities.
  • Mentor junior engineers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their roles.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of a project are coordinated and completed to a high standard.
  • Develop specifications and coordinates with vendors and contractors to ensure that all materials and equipment meet the required standards.
  • Travel periodically to site visits and meetings, approximately 15% or more.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) required.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
  • 10+ years in mechanical design, specifically related to design and construction documentation for mechanical, plumbing, and performance-based fire protection systems in new and existing facilities.
  • Working knowledge of REVIT and AutoCad systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building codes, ASHRAE design manuals and guides, and USGBC LEED requirements, specifically for new or existing facilities.
  • Ability to provide hands-on design and design team leadership on commercial, federal, and municipal projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of building mechanical equipment including fans, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, chilled and hot water loops, boilers, motors, pumps, variable speed drives, direct digital temperature controls, and building automation systems. Plumbing and/or performance fire-protection experience also desired.
  • This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this role in New York is $135,000 - $170,000 dependent on experience.
