Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Water Group at Colliers Engineering & Design. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design effort for structures on or near the water, including locks, dams, water control gates, and moorings. You will also direct the development of bid documents, develop design criteria for projects, and oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design effort for structures on or near the water, including locks, dams, water control gates, and moorings.
  • Direct the development of bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Develop design criteria for projects and oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, and other technical aspects.
  • Lead field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction.
  • Develop design alternatives and assist project managers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Masters' degree preferred.
  • Professional engineer licensure.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge in the design of concrete and steel structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and how to apply them to non-standard structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering modeling software.
  • CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Work on US Army Corps of Engineers projects or familiarity with Corps' design guidelines is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
