Position Overview:
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for accurately preparing and dispensing both prescription and over-the-counter medications to clients; compounding pharmaceuticals; offering drug-related information to clients, healthcare professionals, and the public; reviewing patient medication histories; and consulting with clients and healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or related field.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of one year of full-time experience in a pharmacy setting.
Licensure:
Valid Pharmacist License as mandated by state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and/or supervising the preparation and distribution of prescription medications to clients.
- Making informed decisions regarding the substitution of generic medications.
- Advising clients on medication indications, contraindications, dosages, interactions, and potential side effects.
- Providing additional pharmaceutical information as necessary.
- Offering guidance and training to pharmacy interns and monitoring their performance.
- Establishing and maintaining effective storage and record-keeping systems to ensure the safe handling of pharmaceuticals.
- Adhering to established company policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as continuous quality improvement and safety standards.
- Performing various other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Directing, coordinating, and managing pharmacy operations in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory standards.
- Ensuring compliance with inventory control standards and relevant state and federal regulations.
- Maintaining adherence to reimbursement requirements and competitive pricing strategies.
- Keeping accurate records while respecting confidentiality and established policies.
- Maintaining formularies and sources of information on pharmaceutical preparations.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to perform light lifting and repetitive physical tasks.
- Proficiency in following verbal and written instructions.
- Strong analytical judgment and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Sensory requirements include speech for communication, vision, smell, touch, and hearing for accurate task completion.
Consistent attendance is essential to meet the needs of the organization and its clients. While in the role, the Clinical Pharmacist will execute assignments as directed by the pharmacy management team and is expected to comply with all institutional policies and procedures.
