At U.S. Silica, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Helper to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist maintenance mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in the repair and maintenance of plant machinery, equipment, structures, tools, and facilities.
  • Perform general plant cleanup, including sweeping, shoveling, and vacuuming of MCC rooms, compressor rooms, shops, and other areas as directed by supervisors.
  • Identify equipment by its assigned equipment number to ensure proper lockout and perform tasks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Communicate with supervisors, planners, and others regarding parts and procedures to complete jobs.
  • Operate a forklift when needed and function as a mechanic's helper when assigned to work with senior mechanics.
  • Assist in the performance of preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assigned and perform general maintenance tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Complete routine paper and/or computer work, including work orders, work hours, parts, and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic mechanic tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pneumatic and power tools, pry bars, impact, and pliers.
  • Basic computer skills, including entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, and other tasks.
  • Man lift and scissor lift experience a plus.
