Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Inspection Coordinator to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Bridge Inspection unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our bridges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the director in executing the unit's fiscal year inspection plan
  • Coordinate bridge inspection work between licensed and non-licensed engineers and traffic control staff
  • Manage and recommend the purchase of bridge inspection tools and equipment
  • Oversee the inventory of traffic control equipment
  • Plan and execute efficient manpower deployment in the field to support inspection work
  • Conduct surveys, studies, and investigations to develop ways to reduce congestion and improve field operations
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need a master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or a related field. Alternatively, you may have a baccalaureate degree in engineering and one year of experience performing technical work on roadway transportation and traffic studies.

Additional requirements include:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
