We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Per Diem Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to assigned patients, working within the nursing process to ensure high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver safe and effective direct care to patients, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records.
- Answer telephones and triage calls, adhering to departmental policy.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to hospital standards.
- 1 year of directly related experience as a Registered Nurse.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days.
- RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement.
This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
The working environment includes a significant hazard of chemicals and biohazardous materials, requiring personal protective equipment.
