Key Responsibilities- Document nursing assessments and patient teaching in the patient chart, ensuring accurate and complete information is communicated to the physician.
- Provide professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices, prioritizing their physical and emotional well-being.
- Act as a resource person to medical assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless patient care.
- Triage patient phone calls, documenting relevant information in the patient's chart, and escalating concerns to the physician as needed.
- Assess patient/family needs, providing teaching, instructional materials, and community resource information to promote informed decision-making.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Participate in professional development activities, maintaining professional affiliations, and staying up-to-date with the latest oncology care practices.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient flow, prioritizing their needs and comfort.
- Provide psychosocial and emotional support to patients, referring them to appropriate resources as needed.
- Administer chemotherapy and other therapeutic drugs, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA regulations and Minnesota Oncology's confidentiality policies.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
- Current MN licensure and registration required.
- Current or pending OCN certification preferred.
- Current CPR certification required.
- 2-3 years of nursing experience with IV experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs required.
