Veterinary Support Specialist for Research and Education

The Geneva Foundation is seeking a skilled Veterinary Support Specialist for Research and Education to provide veterinary support services in support of research, training, and education missions. This is an hourly intermittent position requiring around 10-15 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and emergency veterinary medical and surgical care to laboratory animals.
- Support animal research protocols and amendments.
- Maintain animal records and ensure compliance with animal welfare laws, regulations, and SOPs.
- Facilitate in-person lab animal care and training of medical and dental residents using animal models.
- Be available in person at the Laboratory within 1-3 hours to facilitate animal care and assist in emergency situations.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine.
- Minimum 2 years full-time experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian or board certification in laboratory animal medicine.
- Completed a residency in laboratory animal medicine and be board certified by ACLAM.
- Possess experience working with medical residents on laboratory animal research projects and animal model training.
- Possess experience in conducting live-tissue training for surgical residents.
- Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted Veterinary license from the state of Georgia.
- Possess knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to animal use and experience.
- Must be willing to undergo a thorough government background check to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
