Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizing and dispatching units as needed
  • Operate complex radio and telephone systems, including computer consoles and automated phone systems
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of emergency incidents, including suspect information and officer locations
  • Provide critical support to police and fire units, including coordinating mutual aid agreements and responding to emergency situations
  • Stay up-to-date on public safety policies and procedures, including emergency management and communication protocols

Requirements:

  • Valid typing certificate demonstrating 45 net words per minute
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound judgments in stressful emergency situations
  • Knowledge of basic fire and police terminology, as well as organization and operation of police and fire services
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
