Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to mothers and newborns, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop plans to address these needs
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients' responses to these interventions
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and evidence-based care
  • Document patient care and outcomes in a clear and concise manner

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure in the state of California
  • 1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in maternal newborn nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALs certifications
  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of labor and delivery experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of postpartum experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring
  • Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium/Oxytocin/Insulin)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IStat
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Adult Cardiac monitoring
  • Demonstrated knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to perform heel sticks/venipuncture on newborn
  • Demonstrated knowledge of newborn medication including ability to perform IV administration and maintenance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Bili-blankets/lights
  • Demonstrated knowledge of radiant warmers
  • Demonstrated knowledge to support gyn teaching & post-operative bladder training
  • Demonstrated knowledge to support maternal-newborn teaching
