Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and multitask.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position starts at $17.50 per hour, based on experience, and includes a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid time off, and wellness resources.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a medical assistant (required)
- 1 year of experience with EMR systems (required)
- Bilingual, with Spanish preferred
- 1 year of experience with medical terminology (preferred)
- ECW experience (preferred)
Certifications and Licenses
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification (required)
Clinical Duties
- Document chief complaint, take and record vital signs, and complete history questions per procedure.
- Use proper charting procedures, including noting date, time, signature, and job title.
- Plot growth grids in pediatrics.
- Manage telephone messages and redirect phone lines.
- Record and document all injections and/or immunizations given, including lot #, location, and initials orders in accordance with procedure.
- Complete chart prep for assigned provider daily, including review of ASIIS and entry into EMR as appropriate.
- Manage the accountability board/sheet in their care team daily.
- Handle sterile and dirty instruments used in the departments according to instrument processing procedures.
- Keep exam rooms/procedure rooms stocked/set up according to departmental guidelines.
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate medical equipment to meet quality assurance and infection control guidelines (logs). Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor; take equipment out of service.
- Utilize and/or schedule interpreter services as needed by the patient.
- Schedule appointments either in person or over the phone.
- Redirect messages accordingly.
- Must be able to embrace differences among people and interact with internal staff as well as external contacts in a culturally competent and respectful manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
